Friday night was certainly a roller coaster of emotions for the fans of Hopkins. Hopkins led almost the entire game, and was looking good for advancing in the playoffs. But with seconds left of the fourth quarter, West Catholic had tied up the game, sending it into overtime. The fans all waited anxiously in the stands while the senior players realized this might be the last down of football they ever play. When West Catholic’s running back ran into the end zone and caught the ball for the ending score of 19-13, devastation and disbelief set in. As the players walked off the field, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and friends all gathered around to comfort the players. They may have lost the game but everybody was so proud of our boys and how much they accomplished this season.
