To start off the game the Mustangs got the tip, but in the first five seconds the Vikings took the ball back, rushing down the court for an attempted dunk by Clayton Williams. In this attempt, a foul was called, allowing Clayton Williams to take two shots, making both of them, giving the Vikings the first points of the night. Rounding the end of the first quarter, the Vikings came back strong with two back to back turnovers, making both shots, ending the quarter with a final score of 14-18. But this didn’t last long, intense playing by both teams brought the scores into the upper 20’s throughout the quarter, leaving it tied at 27-27 with 46.27 seconds left in the second quarter. Now, both teams brought the heat, with a turnover to the Vikings, and then back to the Mustangs, defense was on, and no one was letting a basket be made. The second half would define the winner, so the Vikings came in strong giving it all they had. Joey McPeck scored a basket in the first 25 seconds, then intercepted a pass and rushed down the court for another basket. Fouled on the shot, he made both of his free-throws. Towards the end of the third quarter, the Vikings seemed to be getting a little sloppy, but not for long. Blake Kraft came in with a score, followed less than 10 seconds later by an incredible slam dunk by Clayton Williams, and then a swooshing jump shot by Blake Kraft. The final score of the third quarter was 42-40, Vikings lead. But this just wasn’t enough. The final quarter was full of foul after foul. Each team had the opportunity to make free-throws and boost their score, which usually is a good thing, but this time, a reckless foul cost the Vikings their game. Tied at 60-60 with 26.5 seconds to go, the Vikings fouled the Mustangs twice in a row. The Mustangs made three out of the four shots. The timer ran out with the Mustangs taking the win with a final score of 60-63.
